Long Trail Brewing Company is celebrating National Trails Day on June 6 with a multi-faceted campaign that honors Vermont’s outdoor culture, the adventurous spirit of the hiking community, and the legendary 273-mile Long Trail that inspired the name of the brewery’s flagship ale back in 1989.
“At Long Trail, the outdoors aren’t just part of our branding, they’re part of who we are,” said Rob Day, VP of Marketing for Barrel One Collective. “The Long Trail has inspired this brewery since day one, and National Trails Day felt like the perfect opportunity to celebrate the people, places, and experiences that make Vermont trail culture so special. From creating a one-of-a-kind beer pack that quite literally lives up to our name, to supporting organizations that help preserve trail access, everything about this campaign is designed to encourage people to Take a Hike!, and enjoy the adventure.”
“The Realllly Long Trail Pack”
Making its debut at the Long Trail brewery on National Trails Day, this limited-edition large-format pack maps the entire 273 miles of the Long Trail across the largest commercially available beer pack brewed this side of the Mississippi.
The “Realllly Long Trail Pack” packaging design features an illustrated 273-centimeter scale trail map, with one centimeter representing each mile of the Long Trail, and notable landmarks on the famed hiking route (in addition to the location of the Long Trail brewery). The bottom of the box features an elevation profile that spans the length of the pack, showing the ascents and descents you’d experience along the journey (about 70,000 feet of climbing).
Containing seven full cases (168 beers) of the newly refreshed Long Trail Ale, the pack reminds fans to “Take a Hike!” and get out there, enjoy the trails, and celebrate with a great beer afterwards. Limited quantities will be available at the Long Trail brewery (5520 US Rte. 4, Bridgewater Corners, VT), with additional select packs available for purchase at Beverage Warehouse (1 East St., Winooski, VT).
“Ales for Trails”
As part of Long Trail’s “Ales for Trails” initiative, the brewer has raised $15,000 to donate to three Vermont-based organizations that ensure trails stay open, maintained, and accessible for everyone who gets outside: the Vermont Mountain Bike Association, Vermont Trails and Greenways Council, and Vermont Huts & Trails. Because when you support Long Trail, you help support the places that bring the community together.
National Trails Day Celebration at Long Trail Brewery
Long Trail will also host a National Trails Day party at the brewery on June 6, featuring live music, a make-your-own trail mix station, the return of the “Hit the Trail” Brown Ale (for a limited time), and the launch of a new hiking rewards program.
