“The Girl in the Mirror” (“A Menina no Espelho”), produced by Sweet Filmes for Delboni, has been shortlisted at CICLOPE 2026 in AI in Animation, part of the AI Craft section. The shortlist was announced on 24 September 2026. The official selection lists the film as “The Girl in the Mirror — Delboni”.
Conceived by Nation and directed by Zaza, the film brings together animation and artificial intelligence in a story about vulnerability and compassionate care in healthcare settings.
Speaking at the campaign’s launch, Luciana Haguiara, founder and CCO of Nation, said: “We believe that caring also means making that person feel safe, welcomed and at ease.”
For Kako Tufano, executive producer at Sweet Filmes, experience in audiovisual production informs the use of new tools:
“The experience we have built in audiovisual production gives us the creative knowledge and judgment to work with artificial intelligence: understanding a scene’s intention, the rhythm of a story and the care needed to evoke emotion. That perspective guides every choice and contributes to the quality of the result. At the same time, AI makes it possible for more people to bring to life ideas that previously ran up against budget or production constraints. More people can turn what they imagine into images and stories. It is this combination of experience and new creative possibilities that excites us.”
Zaza, the project’s director, reflects on the nomination and the relationship between experimentation and storytelling:
“Receiving a CICLOPE nomination so early in my career means a great deal to me. I have always seen these awards as a benchmark for work that expands visual language and the ways we create images, so being among the nominees makes me very proud and, above all, eager to keep experimenting. This project was particularly interesting because it brought together two things that matter to me: the challenge of exploring artificial intelligence as a new creative tool, capable of opening up new visual possibilities, along with the entirely new creative process that came with it; and, at the same time, bringing my perspective as a director and screenwriter to a deeply human idea — helping make the world of medical tests, clinics and doctors a little less intimidating. I think it was precisely this meeting of technology and sensitivity that made the project so special to us.”
The CICLOPE 2026 winners will be announced on 8 October 2026 at the awards ceremony in Berlin.
